Heidi Kling, PhD - Established Clinical Psychologist in New York City

Heidi Kling, PhD, is a licensed New York City clinical psychologist who helps couples and individuals work through issues such as anxiety, depression, and interpersonal conflicts. As a therapist, she assists those facing challenging life disruptions, transitions, and the accompanying sense of loss and grief. Heidi Kling emphasizes a self-reflective approach to therapy that encourages clients to confront traumatic past experiences as they surface, acknowledging them in ways that make recurrence less likely.

Dr. Kling maintains a central location just off of Union Square West in Manhattan and also provides remote session options. Her psychodynamic approach reflects the primacy of early relationships and experiences in shaping who people ultimately become. She strives to provide a warm, welcoming environment that accommodates clients of diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

After earning her BA in English literature at the State University of New York in Binghamton, Dr. Kling completed graduate studies in public health at the Yale University School of Medicine. She ultimately completed doctoral studies in clinical psychology at Adelphi University’s Derner Institute, with a group psychotherapy specialization. Heidi Kling, PhD, is a longtime member of the New York State Psychology Association.
